Dad’s Heartbreaking Wish: “I Just Want to See My Son Turn Two”
At his son’s first birthday party, 42-year-old Elliot Godfrey was battling severe headaches. He thought it was just the stress of being a new dad — until doctors delivered devastating news: stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable brain tumor.
“The first thing I saw when I Googled it was Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator,” he said. “They literally call it the ‘Terminator cancer.’”
Elliot, a former pro golfer from Waddesdon, underwent brain surgery to remove 95% of the tumor and is now undergoing chemo and radiation. He’s also raising money for experimental treatments that might buy him more time.
“When I got home, my son’s birthday balloon was still floating,” he said. “I just sat there thinking, ‘Will I see him turn two? Four?’ I just want to be around for him.”
Despite the odds, Elliot remains focused on fighting for time — for his wife, Jess, and especially for little Aein. “I didn’t think I could love Jess more, but how she’s stood by me… she’s my hero.”
