As devastating floods tore through Texas on July 4, claiming over 100 lives, one family’s tragic story has left the nation in tears.

Jeff Ramsey, 61, is believed to have died when rising waters from the Guadalupe River swept through his airstream camper in Kerrville, where he was staying with his wife Tanya and their dog.

With no time left and rescue out of reach, Jeff made a final call to his children, leaving a voicemail filled with love and fear.

“Buddy, I love you so much. It doesn’t look like we’re going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her,” he said, his voice shaking amid the sound of rushing water.

His son Jake described the message as “terrifying,” but said his father also used his final moments to save others. Jeff called Tanya’s family, who were asleep just 150 yards from the river, warning them in time to escape before their cabin was completely destroyed.

“He saved their lives,” Jake said. “He didn’t just think of us — he thought of everyone.”

As the search continues, Jeff is one of 170 still unaccounted for, but his courage and love are being remembered by many.
