Two suspects in Atlantic City faced a powerful reminder of law enforcement unity when they walked into court and found the room filled with police officers—there to support one of their own.
The courtroom moment followed a violent robbery attempt outside Caesars Casino, where three men tried to rob a group of people. When two officers responded, a shootout erupted. One suspect, Jerome Damon, 25, was killed. Officer Josh Vadell, 29, was critically injured and rushed to the hospital, but later stabilized.
New Jersey PBA President Patrick Colligan called for prayers, saying, “Our hearts are heavy, but our resolve remains strong.”
In court, suspects Demitrius Cross and Martel Chisolm faced a sea of blue as officers gathered in silent support for Vadell.
Vadell’s wife shared a hopeful update online:
“Josh is doing amazing! He’s off the ventilator, speaking small words, sitting up with support, and has movement on his left side. We feel the love and support from everyone.”
The story quickly went viral, with many praising the unity shown by officers.
“These two are a menace to society,” one commenter wrote.
Another added, “Great to see the men and women in blue showing support for each other.”
