A devastating collision in Manitoba, Canada, has left at least 15 people dead after a bus carrying elderly passengers crashed into a truck near the town of Carberry, roughly 170 km west of Winnipeg.
The group was reportedly headed to a casino when the accident occurred at a highway intersection. According to Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 15 people were pronounced dead at the scene. Ten others were rushed to the hospital with injuries.
Both drivers survived, though authorities have not yet confirmed who was at fault. Heartbreaking images from the crash site show destroyed mobility aids and tarps covering the victims.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson have expressed their condolences to the victims’ families and the injured.
