Mikayla Raines, Founder of Save a Fox, Dies by Suicide — Husband Shares Heartbreaking News
Mikayla Raines, the beloved founder of Save a Fox and a passionate advocate for animal rescue, has passed away. Her husband, Ethan Raines, shared the emotional news in a video on June 23, 2025, revealing that Mikayla died by suicide after a long battle with depression, borderline personality disorder, and relentless online bullying.
“She was incredibly empathetic,” Ethan said. “But that also meant every cruel word cut deep.”
Despite enduring years of harassment—even from within the animal rescue community—Mikayla remained committed to her mission. Her death has sparked a wave of grief and remembrance across social media, where fans and fellow rescuers are honoring her strength, compassion, and legacy.
Mikayla’s journey began at age 15 after meeting her first fox. She left college to rescue animals full time, eventually saving hundreds and even helping shut down a fur farm.
She is survived by her husband, their young daughter Freya, and a legacy of kindness that will live on in every animal she saved — and in every life she touched.
