Love Broke Down Walls—Literally.
In 2006, Manuel Uribe made headlines as the world’s heaviest man, weighing 560 kilograms. Determined to change for love, he shed 110 kg. But when it came time for his 2008 wedding, he still couldn’t leave his home the usual way—so his family tore down a wall to get him out.
Getting him to the ceremony was a massive effort: weightlifters, two tow trucks, a flatbed, and a police escort were all needed. Though he’d dreamed of walking down the aisle, he arrived in a specially designed bed.
His new bride, Claudia Solís, stood by him with love and pride. Despite his physical limitations, Manuel’s spirit stayed strong—and his story inspired millions around the world.
He passed away in 2014 at the age of 48, weighing 394 kg—but not before proving that love can move even the heaviest obstacles.
